Five hundred dollars and bragging rights are in store for the person who beats their competition and is crowned “Lord of the Ropes.” Physical ability is a must, but having skills to navigate through some unusual but exhilarating activities are also important to winning. You will be competing against timed events, mental focus and 70 other athletes to earn points. The one with the most points at the end of the day – will win $500 and claim the title of “Lord of the Ropes!”

Do you have what it takes to win it all? To prepare for the event, we recommend that you attend an upcoming Adventure Sunday (1st and 3rd Sundays of each month from 2-6 p.m.) and experience some of these challenges in advance.

How it works:

Each participant will be given a score card to take with them on each event. As you approach each event, you will roll dice to determine who goes first on the event. An example of one of the events is the “Surf Boards” which will challenge your skills of focus and balance. The challenge is to navigate across a series of boards 10 feet off the ground that shake and rock back and forth carrying as much water that you can carry without spilling it? Eight other fun but difficult challenges await you as you try to become the “Lord of the Ropes.” The following are the nine challenges you will face.

Climbing Wall

With five sections to conquer, your goal is to climb as high as you can to gain maximum points. Gain bonus points for doing it blindfolded.

Crate Stack

Stack as many crates as you can all the way to the ceiling, basically building your own climbing tower. Every crate beneath your feet will help you stack up more points towards your ultimate goal.

Power Pole

Standing 18 feet in the air on top of a seven-inch wide pole, your goal is to jump and catch a trapeze bar nine feet away. Gain maximum points if you can do it blindfolded.

Peg Board

Although it might seem elementary to place a round peg in a round hole, it’s not so easy when those pegs and holes are the only way you can traverse across a 30-foot wall 15 feet in the air.

Stump Jump

Move from stump to stump without using your hands to complete this challenge. Every stump that your foot crosses means more points in the bank for you.

Tire Swing

This will be one of the most difficult challenges you will face. Your goal is to swing across six tires and rings, each evenly hung in the air across a 30-foot span blindfolded.

Monkey Bars

Your challenge is to cross four sections of monkey bars hanging 18 feet in the air as fast as you can. The faster the time, the greater the points.

Archery balance challenge

Robin Hood made it look easy standing still and hitting his target every time. But we require better. We ask you to balance on a seesaw 12 feet in the air then shoot at a series of five targets.

Surf Boards

Surf boards are cool but if you fall off – you get wet. Transport water from point A to point B without spilling a drop. The more water you can transport, the more points you will earn during this challenge.

How intense is the program and what shape do I need to be in? The program is very intense and it will be easier if you are in good shape, however not every challenge is based on physical ability and can enhance your score to still possibly be competitive.

The participant, out of all the groups, closest to the maximum total will be crowned “Lord of The Ropes.”
